Arabic cardamom coffee wholesale for GTA cafés: grades, cases and brewing

By the Levant Direct team · Published July 31, 2026

Packets of ground coffee and beverage tins on a café shelf

GTA cafés buy Arabic coffee wholesale from specialist importers, and the working decision is cardamom grade, not brand. Levant Direct stocks three grades from Lio Food of Latakia, Syria: Ground Coffee, Cardamom Free, Ground Coffee with Cardamom and Ground Coffee, Extra Cardamom — each in 100 g packs, thirty to a case, quoted in writing within about a business day of an inquiry.

This guide explains which grade belongs on which menu, how the cup is brewed on a café line, what the GTA market for it looks like, and how case ordering works for a café that has never bought by quotation before.

Three grades, three menus

The three grades are not good-better-best — they are three different cups, and most cafés end up carrying two of them.

Blending your own cardamom ratio

Cafés that want a signature cup buy the cardamom-free grade and spice it in-house — and the spice rack travels in the same catalogue. Whole cardamom, large-pod jambo cardamom and ground cardamom all come from AbdulRahim Mills of Jordan, so the blend-your-own route arrives on the same delivery as the coffee.

The practical advantage is control: cardamom fades faster than coffee, so grinding pods into small batches keeps the aroma at full strength and lets you tune the ratio seasonally rather than accepting one fixed blend.

Brewing it on a café line

Arabic coffee is brewed, not pulled: fine grounds simmered with water — and sugar, if the customer asks — in a small long-handled pot, poured unfiltered into small cups, and served as the grounds settle. It needs no new equipment beyond the pots and a burner, which is why it slots into an existing café line so easily.

The 100 g pack is the line's friend: each one opens fresh and empties within days, so the cardamom never goes quiet at the back of a big tin. For a fuller method — ratios, resting, service — see the answer on brewing Arabic coffee in a café and our complete Arabic coffee guide.

The GTA market for the cup

The audience is large and local. In the 2021 Census, 163,405 people in the Toronto CMA reported being able to converse in Arabic (Statistics Canada, 2021 Census Profile) — and the cup travels well beyond that community, as an aromatic, story-rich alternative for customers who have already worked through every espresso variation on the board.

For a café that means two menus in one product: the traditional cup, served properly, for customers who grew up with it; and the discovery cup, explained in a sentence on the menu, for everyone else.

Cases, counters and the rest of the tray

A case is thirty 100 g packs, and a first order of one case per grade tells you within weeks which cup your room prefers. Build the inquiry, add the counter lines that share the tray — Ma'amoul Date with Cardamom beside the cup is the classic pairing, and pistachio halawa earns its place on any Levantine counter — and send it once; the quotation covers every line, per how inquiry ordering works.

If you retail as well as brew, sealed packs sell beside the register; our post on cardamom coffee and Levantine teas at retail covers the shelf side. And small rooms are exactly who the model serves — see can a small café buy wholesale.

Related questions

What's the difference between Arabic and Turkish coffee?

They are close cousins — both fine-ground and simmered rather than filtered. The Arabic tradition typically brings cardamom into the cup, from a light perfume to the heavily spiced ceremonial style, while Turkish service usually leaves the coffee unspiced.

Which grade should a café start with?

With Cardamom as the default menu cup, plus a case each of the other two grades to test — Extra Cardamom for traditional customers and occasions, Cardamom Free if you want to blend a house ratio.

Do you stock whole cardamom as well?

Yes — whole cardamom, jambo cardamom and ground cardamom from AbdulRahim Mills, in the same catalogue and the same delivery.

Is there a minimum for a small café?

The case of thirty 100 g packs is the working unit. State the quantities you want in the inquiry and the quotation reflects them — asking commits you to nothing.
