Custom Sourcing — Middle Eastern Products on Request
Custom sourcing is the honest, no-obligation route for anything a Canadian buyer needs that isn't currently shown in our published catalogue — a raw date, a standalone tahini paste, freekeh and bulgur grains, or an entire category we don't yet stock, such as detergents or kitchenware. Ask in your inquiry and we'll tell you plainly whether it's something our supplier network can carry, rather than substitute a near-miss and call it a match.
This isn't a guarantee that every request can be filled — some gaps stay gaps — but it costs nothing to ask, and a genuine share of requests turn out to be a sister product one of our ten supplier houses already makes, just not listed on the public site yet.

What custom sourcing covers
Two kinds of gap fall under this program. The first is a product a supplier house makes but that isn't published on our site — a size, a flavour, a sister item next to something we do list. The second is a genuine catalogue gap: standalone tahini paste, freekeh and bulgur grains, and whole categories we don't currently carry at all, including detergents and kitchenware — neither has a single SKU in our catalogue today, so we can't claim stock there. If your program needs either, say so in your inquiry and we'll look into sourcing it through our supplier network rather than pretend the gap isn't there.
Why our supplier houses can often help
Levant Direct works with ten named producer houses across Palestine, Syria, Jordan, Türkiye and Egypt rather than an anonymous private-label importer, and those houses often carry sister products, sizes and variations beyond what's published on the public site. Asking is the only way to find out — a request that looks like a dead end from the public catalogue sometimes turns out to be one message away from a supplier who already makes it.
Two kinds of custom request, honestly
A request for a sister product at a house we already work with tends to move fastest, because the relationship, the import channel and the compliance paperwork are already in place — it's largely a matter of the producer confirming availability and a case format. A request that means opening an entirely new supplier relationship takes longer and carries no guarantee of success; we'll say so upfront rather than let an inquiry drift without an honest answer.
How to ask
Describe what you need as specifically as you can — product, approximate format or size, and the volume you'd realistically order — in the same inquiry you'd use for anything else in the catalogue. Lead time on a custom request runs longer than a routine in-catalogue reorder and is confirmed once we've checked with the relevant supplier house, not estimated in advance.
Buying questions, answered
Do you stock detergents or kitchenware?
Not currently — neither category has a published SKU in our catalogue. If your program needs either, tell us in your inquiry and we'll look into sourcing it through our supplier network.
Can you source raw dates or standalone tahini paste?
Not as standalone catalogue products today. Both are common lines across our supplier network and can be asked about as a custom sourcing request.
Is there a cost to ask for a product that isn't listed?
No — asking costs nothing. We'll tell you plainly whether it's something our supplier network can carry rather than leave the request open-ended.
How long does a custom sourcing request take?
Longer than a routine in-catalogue reorder, and it varies by product and supplier. Timing is confirmed on your quotation once we've checked with the relevant supplier house.
